About the Author
Daniel L. French
I was 20 years old when I was called up to go to Vietnam. I was dating a girl at the time whose name was Valerie. We decided to get married before I left. That was in 1968. We met in Hawaii for R&R and began our life together when I got Home. We had a wonderful life together for nearly 51 years. We raised three wonderful kids, traveled to Scotland, Ireland and the British Isles. Back to Hawaii a couple times and to many cities in the United States. In late 2018 we discovered Valerie had Cancer. She left me in January 2019.
Bonnie on the other hand went to and finished a Bible degree at Holmes Theological Seminary in Greenville, South Carolina. She married a minister and they were missionaries in the Honduras and founded and served churches in Virginia. They were married 47 years when they discovered that her husband Jim had Stomach cancer. He died three months before Valerie did. During my time of mourning Bonnie and I started writing and talking to each other on the phone.
You see, Bonnie and I were friends growing up, we went to the same church, were in the same youth group, and graduated high school together. She then went her way and I went mine. After a while of talking and praying, we decided to marry. That was nearly seven years ago. And we now both love and take good care of each other.
A more in-depth rendering of this story can be found in my book "Channels of Delight".
